An excellent opportunity for graduates seeking a career in shop or production management. Successful candidates will begin their career at one of our major locomotive or freight car repair facilities. During an initial six-month orientation period, successful candidates will receive classroom and on-the-job training in transportation operations - our company's core business - and mechanical operations.
While both initial and subsequent assignments may vary, associates are being prepared to assume firstline management positions. Located at mechanical facilities (locomotive or freight car repair and servicing facilities) across our 23 state service area, first-line managers are responsible for directing inspection, servicing, and repair activities, managing material and production costs, coordinating freight car or locomotive availability with local transportation managers, supervising unionized work crews, and managing employee safety.

The Mechanical Department is responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of all freight car and locomotives that move across the Union Pacific rail system each day. Major shop locations include: Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver, North Little Rock, North Platte (Nebraska), Kansas City, Sacramento, Hinkle (Oregon), DeSoto, Palestine, Pocatello and Fort Worth.
ENGINEERING ASSOCIATES - ELECTRICAL (SIGNAL)

Union Pacific is seeking individuals interested in supervisory and management opportunities to join our operations area as Engineering Associates. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking a career in field engineering management. Associates will participate in the Operations Management Training program, which provides them the opportunity to leverage their academic and prior work experience, perform meaningful work with an industry leader, and become a leader in Union Pacific's Engineering department. Successful candidates will receive classroom and on-the-job training in transportation operations, our company's core business, and field engineering which will provide outstanding career growth potential.
While both initial and subsequent assignments may vary, engineering associates are being prepared to assume first-line management positions in signal and electrical systems. First-line managers are responsible for directing inspection, maintenance and repair of signal and electrical systems, managing material and production costs, coordinating engineering activities with transportation operations, and supervising unionized work crews. These positions, such as Manager Signal Maintenance, are located across our 23-state service area and support the signal lines built into our tracks to provided crucial safety and dispatching information to our trains.
