Job Description

Scope:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) of Physician Assistant (PA) shall work with a healthcare team to provide support to CDC’s Global Migration Task Force (GMTF) supporting CDC’s preparedness, response and entry screening activities.  Providing basic medical screening services at major US airports to identify and mitigate medical issues arising during initial COVID-19 screening.  Providing Physical Examinations and Entry Screening Assessments, Record Keeping and Medical Clearance, Traveler Engagement, and Administrative support to CDC DGMQ.

Shift and hours: 7:00AM-3:30PM/Tues-Sat or Sun-Thu

                                    3:00PM-11:30PM/Tues-Sat or Sun-Thu
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to preserve the health of patients.
Conduct COVID-19 screening using visual awareness and a state-of-the-art infrared thermometer for a body temperature check.
Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure.
Provide basic disease prevention education; address concerns, answer questions, and encourage participation in active monitoring; and review and verify contact information.
Gather, validate, and provide quality assurance for information collected in furtherance of CDC’s response and entry screening activities.
Assist in transmitting records to local health departments for care and follow-up.
Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols and the Privacy Act.
Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
Protects patients’ privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Must possess a current, active and unrestricted NP or PA state license with the ability to be favorably credentialed.
Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Assistant School.
2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Current BLS certification.
Must be able to work while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as an N95 Respirator.
Demonstrate an understanding of when to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be proficient and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Current ACLS Certification.

Physical Requirements:
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time
May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
