This scope of the role, Network Engineer, covers all of Better Nutritionals locations, plants (currently Gardena and Norco, CA), affiliates and companies acquired or created.

This position, Network Engineer, requires a variety of skillsets. The core of the role will require the following:
1. Maintaining IT and digital communication infrastructure, including wireless and LAN networks.
2. Maintaining, and where necessary establishing digital communication software, including email, logins and passwords
3. Network design, complete capabilities
4. Training either BN staff or out-sourced resources on aspects of the IT system and infrastructure and aid in the development of communication policies and related policies
5. Ensuring that networks are protected from viruses and related and maintain operational integrity
6. Must stay current on Cyber-threats and related technology
7. Designing and installing and/or oversight of the firewalls, and protection of internet access
The hours of this positions will need to align with BN’s fast-paced operations, the Norco expansion schedule and support of manufacturing operations, which are 24 hours per day and at times, 6 days/week.
Better Nutritionals (BN) is currently operating on a 3-shift schedule with the following structure (with typical weekend operation, as there is extremely high-demand for product):
First Shift: 5:00 AM – 01:30 PM
Second Shift: 01:00 PM – 09:30 PM
Third Shift: 9:00 PM – 05:30 AM
This role benefits from functional experience applicable to manufacturing operations in the food and beverage industry, with pharma being an acceptable equivalent. The person in this role must understand how to operate efficiently and effectively in a regulated environment. Proven ability to rapidly learn the requirements of food safety, GMP, GDP and related are required and as applicable to the role, if those skills and knowledge are not part of the incumbent’s/candidate’s experience.
BN’s production operations must be a lean, efficient group, executing with excellence, and delivering on the goals for providing our customers with the highest quality nutritional gummies in the industry. This role is critical in the support of those objectives.
Understanding and managing the cost of IT operations, cost of outsourced technology and related costs will be necessary for achieving business objectives, when those types of projects or assignments are made.

In addition to the requirements set forth above:
Design capabilities for Lennox, Microsoft, Cisco, topography and protocols
Fully understands the difference of Switch levels
Provide technical IT support for employees as needed
Performing analysis and collecting data to establish the potential for improvements within the communication networks
Working closely and successfully with third-party providers to keep the networks operational and all security and leading-edge functionality
Ability to make decisions and communicate these decisions with clear, simple instructions to ensure proper execution
Operates to high standards including accuracy and timeliness
Ability to coordinate the business functions to confirm requirements
Good organization skills for the tracking of tasks, projects and related
Understanding of an IT environment that operates around and ERP core system, specifically NetSuite (or an equivalent)
Developed skills in influencing people, ensuring that both listening, and directions are employed in advancing the business.
Establishes good relationships with customers, providers and staff.
Focuses on customer needs and satisfaction.
Proven ability to operate under pressure of: e.g. deadlines.
Experience in the support of manufacturing operations in the food and beverage industry is desirable. Experience in the pharma industry is equally desirable.
Ability to quickly learn or apply experience in operating in a regulated environment is also a requirement. Applying these requirements to the operating environment, as applicable
Proven track record of skill development
Experience in a start-up business, working in roles within that start-up is very desirable
Clear, concise communication skills: Listening, speaking, and writing, will be essential to a strong candidate. NOTE: Candidate must be fluent in English, and additional languages are a plus.
Bachelor’s degree, Computer Science, Technology Engineering or related highly desirable
Certifications from Dell, Cisco and Comp TIA very desirable and preferred in the absence of a formal degree in a computer/technology-related field.

Other Work-Related Expectations: 40 hour, 5-day work week, with work schedules requiring some weekend work and off-shift work coverage to meet financial, project and business deadlines. The role will support operations of the business, so work schedules will need to accommodate those opportunities, including weekend manufacturing and project schedules, if necessary.
The role may involve walking and standing, and could be considerable, with sitting being likely being the majority of the time on the job while working at a desk on a computer or meetings or related.
Lifting for the role should be, 99% of the time, less than 20 pounds and not expected to be a primary or secondary part of the position
Time working/sitting and using the computer will be required could represent the majority of the time for the position. >50%. The commensurate exposure to computer screens follows these work requirements.
This is an operations support role. The role may require going to the manufacturing floor, lab or warehouse or other utility areas of the facilities to collect data and/or information and observe and/or set-up operation of systems. There are requirements to be in the direct manufacturing and warehouse locations. Manufacturing and utility areas can expose an employee to high temperature equipment, kettles, piping and noise and related hazards.
Wearing of PPE is not only required by policy but needed to ensure safety of our people. Compliance to safety and PPE requirement is mandatory for employment.
This role will have work hours associated with “typical” business hours. However, there will be production operations and projects on weekends, where additional time is required to meet deadlines. This is an exempt (salaried) role, and overtime is not paid.
Better Nutritionals has expanded to a Norco location. Norco is expected to the base location for this role. Support, as needed, of the Gardena facility may require time at Gardena to address business needs. This will be on a case-by-case basis. Note: This will expand to any additional facilities that BN or its companies/affiliates may acquire/create in the future.
