Under the direction of the Collections Manager, the Collections Supervisor is responsible for the activities and operations of the Collections Department. Oversees the solicitation for payment on overdue accounts and other duties of Collections Department staff. Investigates and resolves credit issues and recommends payment options to be approved. Contributes to the development of policies and procedures for the efficient operations of the Department.

Supervises the Collections Department’s daily operations and assigned employees, including but not limited to payment decisions, member issue escalations, and the coaching and development of staff. Responsible for the collections system and all ancillary systems that support the Department and its operations.
Investigates and resolves complex internal and external member complaints, transactions, and errors.
Ensures all Collection Department staff follow all protocols, laws, and regulations to collect payments efficiently.
Oversees and reviews assigned production reports, including but not limited to classifieds, queue penetration, Akcelerant, promises, GLs, compliance reports, and collections processes.
Manages vendor relationships.
Responsible for ensuring all department procedures are up-to-date and accurately reflect current processes.
Reviews department standard operating procedures on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and both recommends and assists with updates as needed.
Actively participates in Credit Union management.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Credit Union policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory duties may include, but are not limited to employee selection, training, coaching and discipline. Verifies employee time records and employee performance.
Works with Collections Manager to ensure employee compliance with established Credit Union operating policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained in and comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Identification Program (CIP) regulations.
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of this position.
Education and Experience
Three or more years’ experience in and knowledge of collections procedures, practices, policies, and credit fundamentals.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Exceptional knowledge of all requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to the Department’s responsibilities.
Credit Union products, services, programs, and promotions.
Proficiency with MS Office, Akcelerant, Symitar, Base 2000.
Other Skills and Abilities
Operates a variety of office equipment and machines.
Travels, attends, and participates in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.
Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
