Job Description
Scope:
In support of the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Pathway of Care, the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) serves active duty military, their beneficiaries, and veterans with TBI through state-of-the science innovative clinical research initiatives and educational programs, and support for force health protection services and clinical care knowledge. DVBIC fulfills this mission through ongoing collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD), military services, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), civilian health partners, local communities, families and individuals with TBI. The contractor staff shall work under the direction and oversight of the government for all described tasks.

This position is notional and contingent upon contract award.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with all DVBIC Network Sites in providing guidance to the Network Regional Education Coordinators (RECs). Provide training and orientation to new DVBIC RECs, working directly with the RECs to coordinate education efforts across the network.
Enrich and further educate current RECs on basic and advanced TBI standards.
Provide guidance and outreach to VA, DoD and caregivers and civilian populations related to TBI.
Adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
Supervise Network RECs and contractor HQ support staff.
Maintain clean and organized work area.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience working with DoD/VA/community providers, patients and families with issues pertaining to TBI education and training.
Experience in the care of patients with TBI – in-patient, out-patient, or rehabilitation settings or obtain Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) certification within 6 months from the date of employment.
Knowledge of community education, outreach techniques, basic TBI clinical and policy issues.
Excellent communication skills to include writing skills.
Ability to speak in public.
Interpersonal skills.
Understanding of DoD and VA clinical networks to identify access points for training and education.
Ability to manage conflict, build rapport, and navigate complex situations leading to a positive outcome required.
Possess the ability to obtain a T3 (NACLC) level security investigation.

Preferred Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Education
CBIS certification
Background in TBI

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
HQ DVBIC office setting and site clinical environment. May involve travel from HQ to Network sites and meeting venues. Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work involves sitting for prolonged periods of time.
May require bending, stooping.
May need to carry light items – up to 25 lbs.
May encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.
