Position Summary
Key liaison and leader between the operations, production control and management. Responsible for all production, manufacturing, yard support and administrative functions needed for safe and efficient yard operations. Oversee and manage all aspects of resources needed to support new builds and repairs inside of the facility, to include coordination of internal resources, suppliers, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within the scope of the budget.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Develops budgets
Establishes yard and departmental goals, management of vessel repairs, scheduling, budgeting, supervising, support production, efficiencies, and allocation of labor
Accountable for facility-wide compliance with all Safety, Quality, Company and Regulatory directives
Directs activities in areas of safety and personnel, production, scheduling, material handling, and quality control through subordinates
Perform supervisory duties to the facilities and equipment, allocate Periodic Maintenance (PM) programs, monitor equipment status, order repairs and replacements, and supervise personnel for facilities and maintenance
Assist with interviewing, retaining, and terminating labor for trades
Other miscellaneous duties as required

Planning and Leadership:
Provides support and leadership to supervisors and exempt staff
Integrates functions in a multi-discipline work environment
Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
Makes decisions guided by resource availability and functional objectives
Directs and coordinates shipyard operations within company policies and procedures
Maintains a clean and safe facility
Fosters well-trained and motivated subordinates
Translates company strategies into tactical plans. Creates and prioritizes necessary resources and steps required to accomplish goals on time
Establishes and maintains goals
Coordinates with all functional areas of the shipyard to ensure facility readiness and production schedules are met
Confers with Business Unit Department Heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping
Prepares annual budgets, projections, and quarterly reports, to include capital budgets
Advises departments regarding manning and expense goals and ensures efforts are made to meet budget projections
Determines facility improvements and repairs along with annual costs and schedules
Utilizes Continuous Improvement Strategies

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of HS Diploma and 10 years work experience
A combination of 15 years of education or related experience in ship building, particularly tugs, supply vessels and barges
Experience with profit and loss sensitivity
Computer Skills: General Computer Skills- Microsoft Office
