Summary
Under the direction of the SVP Chief Information Officer, the Data Officer undertakes data collection, preprocessing and analysis. Builds models to address business problems. Presents information using data visualization tools and techniques. The Data Officer is highly analytical and skilled in analysis, math, and statistics. Possesses the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for interpreting data, as well as a passion for learning and research.

Analyzes large amounts of semi-structured information to find patterns that will help improve internal business units. Builds data products to extract valuable business insights.
Performs sophisticated data analytics encompassing data mining, inferential statistical analysis, and predictive analytics.
Provides consultation to leadership on how to leverage analytic insights to build actionable strategies.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders across the organization to understand and resolve key business questions and needs.
Analyzes trends to make better decisions for the Credit Union. Analyzes large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
Leverages a broad range of technologies to reveal the insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data.
Identifies valuable data sources and automates collection processes.
Thorough understanding of the business and data strategy.
Designing and implementing data strategies and systems.
Undertakes preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
Presents information using data visualization techniques with platforms like PowerBi.
Proposes solutions and strategies to business challenges.
Helps maintain and enhance a secure, robust, and relevant world-class analytics platform.
Own the “One Version of the Truth” regarding data for CoastHills and actively curate and socialize this data to all departments.
Build internal web applications when required that facilitate niche business functions and often leverage data platform being maintained by this role.

Supervisory Functions
Effectively directs and supervises assigned employees, ensuring optimal performance.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Credit Union policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory duties include, but are not limited to, employee selection, training, coaching and discipline. Verifies employee time records and employee performance. Motivates, coaches and evaluates assigned employees’ performance.
Establishes an environment that promotes teamwork and eliminates barriers to effectively working within the Department and across the Credit Union organizational structure.
Encourages participation and open communication.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience
BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant field.
Ten to fifteen years’ experience in a senior-level data management role and having completed projects utilizing data to solve real world problems (applicants will provide in writing a brief explanation of what they have done and what problems were solved.)
Proven experience as a Database Developer and Data Analyst.
Experience in data mining.
Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Power Bi) and data frameworks (e.g. MS SQL Server.)

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
None.

Knowledge
Understanding of database architecture, data mining, data warehousing, data analytics and project management.
Knowledge of SQL and SSRS Reporting; familiarity Power Bi is an asset.
Skilled in planning, organization, analysis, and decision-making with sound judgment.
Proven expertise in leading people, strategic planning, and risk management.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to handle and keep confidential sensitive information.
Ability to travel, attend, and participate in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.
