Summary:
The Construction Superintendent will oversee construction of the projects in the field, provide leadership to field staff and coordinate with Safety and Quality Officers to ensure successful completion of all trade work. This is heavily involved with the mechanical trades as a focus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Includes the Following:
Report to and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and quality completion of construction process. Work is performed on a Full-Time basis
Oversees all MEP field work and day to day onsite activities.
Manages labor force to achieve optimum performance.
Reviews and understands equipment budgets and negotiate rental rates.
Provides leadership in quality process.
Provides leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs.
Documents daily construction activities.
Assists in development of Detailed Scope of Work.
Chairs weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
Issues and maintains short term schedules.
Verifies that drawings are kept current.
Reviews Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and conducts routine safety meetings and inspections.
Abides by safety rules and regulations.
Assists in the Preconstruction process.
Assists in development of detailed CPM Schedule.
Develops a project site logistics plan.
Supports review of project costs and identify areas for improvement.
Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents.
Performs other job-related duties as required.
Supervisory/Management Authority:
Oversee construction of the project in the field. Provide leadership to field staff and coordinate with Safety and Quality Officers to ensure successful completion of all trade work.
Report to and work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and quality completion of construction process.
Education and/or Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; a High School Diploma Required
OSHA 10 and a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience and/or education as a Construction Superintendent
Experience with Federal Government Projects is strongly desired
Previous experience directing and coordinating trades and experience in managing multiple projects concurrently is required
Quality Control/Quality Assurance experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, blueprints, specifications, engineering reports, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, subcontractors, or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
Possess knowledge of all facets of ground up building construction.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, a clear driving record and comply with Cherokee-Federal and the government’s Motor Vehicle Policies

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Computer skills (Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project) a must
Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and federal background check
Work Environment:
Combination of office setting and construction site.
Work will involve physical labor, mental and visual efforts due to the nature of the job
