The Systems Security Analyst serves as a general security specialist performing Communication Security (Comsec) duties, Operations Security duties, and serving as the Unit Security Officer for the OBO/IRM Division.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):
Perform end of day security checks in OBO suites
Maintain safe/lock combination changes for safes and computer equipment rooms
Conduct new OBO/IRM user security briefings and keep new user security briefing updated with the latest policies from the Department’s Foreign Affairs Manuals and Handbooks pertaining to Information and Information Systems Security policy
Respond to and remediate classified spillage incidents
Manage the distribution, tracking, reporting, and auditing of the OBO Classified hard drive program
Perform secure data transfer for users from unauthorized network devices to the OpenNet/ClassNet network
Conduct classified hard drive audit semi-annually and maintain the classified hard drive database with 100% accuracy
Ensure safes/locks combination changes for all OBO/IRM safes and computer equipment rooms are changed annually or when an employee with the combination leaves.
Issue new user security briefing within 5 days after new user reports on duty
Conduct semi-annual inventory with 100% accountability of all Comsec holding
Maintain a “Satisfactory” rating for the annual Comsec audit

Supervisory/Management Authority:
This position will not have supervisory or management authority

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's (Preferred) Bachelor of Science (BS) in related technical area and minimum 4 years relevant experience.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Additional 7 years of relevant experience in operations security may be considered in lieu of a degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be a US citizen and possess an Active Secret clearance that is verifiable in JPAS / DISS
Knowledgeable in data classification, communication security, and general information security practices a must
Have excellent attention to detail and communication skills; both oral and written
Have some familiarity with Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) and Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH) (5 FAH-6 – Communication Security and 12 FAM/12 FAH – Accountability Review Board Procedures)
Capable of conducting information system audits and ComSec audits
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work independently and with a team
Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a federal background check is mandatory

Work Environment:
This position is performed in a remote environment (work from home/telecommute) and will potentially be back in office on a hybrid model once covid restrictions lift.
