Veteran Coordinator for Queen of Hearts Equine Services for Heroes Program (ES4H) for Jurupa Valley, CA 91752
Hours: P/T- F/T
Salary: $18/hr-$20/hr D.O.E.

Queen of Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equestrian center for persons with special needs.

Nature of Work:
Work outdoors with horses and Veterans. Liaison with active, reserve, and retired military organizations, veteran service organizations (VSO), and other stakeholders. Assist in donor recruitment and acknowledgment; assist in fund raising; promoting special events and communicating with the community. Assist with other Queen of Hearts’ (QoH) operations, events and activities as requested.

Major Job Duties:
Assist with Veteran equine services lessons/sessions.
Assist with development of public relations plan that includes targeted media lists and event calendar towards the military/veteran community.
Liaison with Veteran Treatment Courts, community organizations, businesses, government officials, foundations, active and retired military organizations, and make presentations as requested, to educate the community about QoH ES4H program. (If candidate is a graduate from Veterans Treatment Court, must be post-completion for at least 1 year.)
Assist with preparation and distribution of monthly e-newsletter.
Promote QoH ES4H at Veteran-centric events.
Assist with developing and creating promotional brochures, flyers and advertisements.
Assist maintaining computer contact databases.
Assist Development Coordinator with current donor recognition and acknowledgments.
Keep communication open with active, reserve, and retired military personnel and their family members and guide them towards expert assistance as needed.
Remind program Veterans of their scheduled appointments.
Assist prospective Veteran clients with their needed documentation to begin their QoH ES4H sessions.

Desired Qualifications:
Education: Must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent. Prefer college work in non-profits, business, marketing, and public relations, and communications. Experience may be substituted for education. Veteran peer support certification preferred, but not necessary. Willingness to learn how media function and interest in working with them. Experience and Knowledge:
Must be a Veteran, actively serving the reserve component, or an immediate family member of a Veteran. Working knowledge of horses and therapeutic riding desirable. Must learn and abide by PATH Int'l Premier Center Accreditation and EAGALA guidelines and polices. Prefer background in non-profit fund-raising. Experience in planned giving and/or grant writing highly desirable. Must be experienced in public speaking.

Skills and Abilities:
Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds with occasionally lifting of up to 60 pounds.
Be physically and medically able to efficiently perform the essential job functions without being a direct threat to themselves and others.
Have full range of motion to perform rapid, repetitive twisting and working with arms above shoulder level.
Have manual dexterity of the upper body including arms, hands, and fingers, with a normal sense of touch in both hands.
Be able to stand and walk on slippery and uneven surfaces for up to 3 hours.
Be able to jog on slippery and uneven surfaces for up to 30 minutes.
Enthusiastic, persistent, outgoing, and able to organize and prioritize with minimal supervision as well as be able to make public presentations.
Able to work cooperatively and communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Interest in working with military personnel and promoting the ES4H program to the media.
Able to maintain a cooperative working relationship with other staff, volunteers, clients, and stakeholders.
Skilled with personal computers programs to include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and social networking programs.
Must have a valid California State driver’s license and have own transportation.
Must pass a California State Criminal background check.
Commitment is mandatory for the success of the safety of Queen of Hearts’ program. The bottom line is, all staff must be able to deliver quality and safe service to Queen of Hearts’ clients and any barrier to that delivery is not allowable.
