Operating Room (OR) Technician - Afghanistan
Deploying to Middle East, FL 32920 US (Primary)
The Operating Room Technician will be assigned to treat patients in the medical/trauma hospital locations. Provides direct and indirect services to the surgical patient under the supervision of the General Surgeon or Operating Room Nurse and performs tasks as necessary for the efficient and effective functioning of the operating room, as well as the delivery of quality care.
**This position is notional and contingent upon contract award. **
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which CHSi is recognized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:
•Promotes and restores patients’ health by collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients and supervising assigned team members
•Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients
•Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel
•Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
•Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
•Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies. Develops, coordinates, and enforces company policies, procedures, and initiatives
•Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, identifying trends and recommending system improvements
•Complies with all applicable CHS ME standards and guidelines
•Other duties as assigned
•Completion of a program leading to a diploma or certification from an accredited surgical technician program
•3 years of experience as an operating room technician
•Hold and maintain a current unrestricted government issue license
•Accredited to a recognized U.S. standard or proven equivalent national qualification
•Proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.
•Requires the ability to be granted a DoD Secret Clearance.
•Must have a valid US Passport
•Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy.
•Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
•Ensures safe operating conditions within an area of responsibility.
•Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
•Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. However, there will be times when exterior/outside work environment and in-country travel by surface and/or air will be required.
•The climate can be hot, dry and prone to inclement weather
•May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.
