Job Description
The Paramedic will assess, treat and coordinate transport for patients to higher-level medical providers, commonly in the form of a clinic or hospital. Invasive care may include advanced airways, IV therapy, medications and defibrillation. This position will provide support to a project in Washington state for full-time coverage and would be camp based on-site living while on rotation. The  rotations are typically 14 days on shift/ 14 off. Ancillary duties as assigned.

Administratively Reports To:  VP of Medical & Safety

Qualifications:
Current paramedic certificate or licensure by Washington state
Current CPR and ACLS
5+ years remote and/or emergency response experience preferred

Responsibilities:
Provide non-emergency and emergency medical response to employees on site during 12-hour shift
Assesses the safety and hazards at the scene of an emergency
Controls the hazards at an emergency scene
Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury present and establishes the priorities for emergency care
Under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician, treats injuries or illness using advanced life support techniques and medications; these may include:
        airway management
        intravenous therapy, heart monitoring with an Electrocardiographic (ECG) device
        defibrillation
        synchronized cardioversion
        administration of any type of parenterally, orally, or topically approved medication or solution
        needle chest decompression
        gastric and oral/tracheal suctioning
        Basic Life Support techniques of the EMT-1
Extricates patients from entrapment
Provides special rescue services where trained in those specific areas
Performs triaging of patients and management of mass casualty situations
Lifts and moves patients
Utilizes specialized communication equipment to consult with physicians and/or notify hospitals of patient's condition
Completes detailed documentation on patient care and transport
Understands and uses appropriate state and federal regulations pertaining to EMS, confined space, hazardous materials, incident command system, blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and controlled substances
Reports verbally to receiving Physician as to the patient's condition and interventions performed
Maintains, cleans, and restocks emergency supplies and equipment
Support the HSE function as a helper and not a decision maker where, in the opinion of the practitioner, the support does not interfere with the medical provision at the location

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
Work conditions are such that significant time will be spent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, assisting with positioning patients, and include some lifting. Exposure to anesthetic gases, blood and body fluids, sharps, and other health care occupational hazards is routine. Conditions will include exposure to hospital grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions and gases, e.g., alcohol and oxygen, as well as latex and other industrial chemicals.

Contingencies:
Offer contingent upon ability to pass a pre-employment physical, fitness for duty assessment for remote work, drug testing (federal panel), background check and motor vehicle report.
