Under general supervision of the AVP Controller and Assistant Controller, a Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties.
Some of the essential duties of the job are:
Performs detailed accounting duties in accounts payable, accounts receivable, property tax and GL creation.
Maintains, records and balances subsidiary ledgers and controlling accounts for prepaid asset deferrals and capital asset depreciation using the straight-line method and cashier check/money order issued, reconciled and outstanding.
Perform specialized calculations for payroll depreciation, investment interest, dividend interest and loan interest.
Responds to employees’ and members’ inquiries and requests and resolves problems and/or complaints.
Prepares reports summarizing business and financial activities for external agencies – NCUA, Federal Reserve and ASI.
Maintains records, verifies and issues 1099-MISC tax reporting forms.
Determines if an asset is capital expenditure or a revenue expenditure.
Prepares reports for the board package – balance sheet, income statement and loan statistics.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study with emphasis in Accounting, preferred.
A 2-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration accompanied by 3+ years performing accounting related work will be accepted.
1 year general accounting experience or knowledge of branch operational activities as would normally be acquired from one year of increasingly responsible related experience within a financial institution.
Proficiency with general office software including word processing and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Ability to calculate figures and apply amounts with accuracy and speed.
Ability to be bonded.
